Inne History.

Van Auken's Inne was built in 1891. The Inn originally stood next to the railroad tracks that were laid in 1892. These tracks now host the renovated Adirondack Scenic Railroad. In 1905, the three-story Inn was moved 75 feet away from the tracks to where it remains today.

Van Auken's Inne has long been a popular gathering spot for visitors to the Adirondacks and locals alike. The Victorian structure with its pillard porch was completely renovated in 1988 to its original splendor which reflects an atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era.

Originally known as "Fulton-Chain," Thendara has evolved from a booming lumber town to a popular vacation spot. Thendara, meaning "rim of the forest," is ideally located on the outskirts of Old Forge, New York. Visitors today have a host of activities to choose from.

The Adirondack region is rich in natural beauty and offers hundreds of lakes and rivers. Its grandeur and wilderness, and even its smells and sounds, have been the main attraction to the area and continue to bring back visitors again and again.
